KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended the last trading session of the week in positive territory on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 574 points.
The KSE-100 closed at 177,166 points, maintaining positive momentum as investors remained active across several sectors.
Market breadth, however, remained mixed despite the increase in the benchmark index.
Shares of 565 companies were traded during the session. Of these, 246 companies recorded gains, while 216 closed lower. The remaining shares finished unchanged.
Trading activity also remained significant, with around 680 million shares changing hands during the session.
The total value of shares traded at the stock exchange stood at approximately Rs35 billion.
The increase in the benchmark index indicated continued investor interest despite a sizeable number of stocks ending the session in negative territory.
The performance of the broader market remained comparatively balanced, with advancing companies outnumbering declining stocks by 30.
Friday’s gain brought the business week to a positive close, while the KSE-100’s finish above the 177,000-point level kept investor attention focused on whether the market can sustain its momentum in the coming sessions.
Investors are expected to continue monitoring domestic economic developments, corporate performance and other factors influencing market sentiment when trading resumes next week.
