Govt raises petrol, diesel dealers' margin to Rs9.98 per litre

Summary Pakistan government raises petrol and diesel prices after increasing dealers’ margins, with new fuel rates effective from August 21, 2026 for one day.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has increased dealers’ margins on petrol and diesel and issued a notification to this effect.

According to the notification, the dealers’ margin has been increased by Rs1.34 per litre. The Cabinet has formally approved the decision taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and directed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to implement it immediately.

Following the government’s decision, the dealers’ margin will rise from Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre. The increase in dealers’ margins will also be reflected in retail fuel prices.

Meanwhile, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by 27 paisas per litre, while the price of diesel has gone up by Rs1.64 per litre.

The new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs337.78 per litre, while diesel will now cost Rs364.70 per litre.

The revised petrol and diesel prices will take effect from August 21, 2026, for one day.

It may be noted that the Ministry of Petroleum is determining new prices of petroleum products on a daily basis under the government’s revised mechanism for adjusting fuel prices.
