14 power plants will stop generating costly electricity as contracts expire
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The power grid will be free from 3,600 megawatts of costly electricity in 2026 due to the expiry of 14 power plants.
According to official documents, these power plants, which generate electricity from LNG, natural gas, and furnace oil, will become outdated within the next two years.
The documents also show that these plants include four at Muzaffargarh and one at Guddu, 5 to 10 units of the natural gas-fired Guddu-2 will be decommissioned. The combined capacity of the four Muzaffargarh power plants is 750 MW.
Moreover, the documents indicate that these four of the Muzaffargarh power plants generate electricity from furnace oil.
