Capacity payments double as dollar appreciates: Langrial
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Secretary Power Rashid Langrial said on Monday the capacity payments had doubled owing to the appreciation in value of dollar.
The capacity payments of externally funded power plants had touched a higher level, he said.
In his message on public communication website X, Langrial said the capacity payment rate of domestically fuelled power plants increased by 60 per cent, while the capacity payments of externally funded power plants increased by 145 per cent.
The power secretary said the capacity payments of power plants increased to Rs2,152 billion and capacity payments of alternative energy power plants were Rs260 billion.
He said the capacity payments of nuclear power plants were Rs510 billion and the capacity payments of LNG power plants were Rs139 billion.

The capacity payments of coal power plants were Rs643 billion, he added.
