Pakistani entrepreneurs in Russia urge ICCI to seek opportunities
The ICCI expresses willingness to visit Moscow for potential business activities.
(Web Desk) - A delegation of Pakistani entrepreneurs doing business in Moscow visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to promote business and trade activities between Pakistan and Russia.
The entrepreneurs during their visit asserted that Russia could be a potential market for Pakistani exports and the business community, who should capitalize this opportunity for promoting exports.
The delegates disclosed that except oil and gas, Russia has been importing products to meet demands of more than 95 percent of its people and Pakistan has great potential to export its products to Russia including food products, textiles, surgical instruments, pharmaceuticals, leather products, sports goods etc.
They said that many Pakistani products were reaching Russian market through Europe and USA at higher cost while direct trade between Pakistan and Russia would yield more profit.
They suggested that delegations from Pakistan must visit Russia to explore business potential in the Russian market.
The meeting observed that 12 to 15 companies from Sialkot have already opened their offices in Moscow and there were about 16,000 wholesale stores in the Russian capital that could offer significant scope for many Pakistani products.
The delegates assured that they would extend full cooperation in arranging meetings of ICCI delegation with right partners in Russia.
ICCI President Ahmed Hassan Moughal urged the federal government to cooperate with the private sector for opening warehouses in Moscow and other major Russian cities.
He said Pakistan and Russia should open bank branches on reciprocal basis, and termed it essential to promote bilateral trade between the two countries.
He assured that ICCI would consider taking a delegation to Moscow to explore Russian market.
