Sindh farmers to protest against govt for Rs 170/40Kg sugarcane price
Farmers in Punjab are getting Rs 180 per 40 Kg sugarcane, Abadgar vice president
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh farmers have announced to protest against the government for setting sugarcane price at Rs 170 per 40 Kilogram (Kg).
Sindh Abadgar Board (SAB) vice president Mehmood Nawaz Shah said that farmers in Punjab are getting Rs 180 per 40 Kg sugarcane while Sindh government has set a price which is Rs 2 lesser than the previous year.
He said that the government has finalised the price with three months delay.
Shah further said that farmers would protest outside the press club on January 11. He also said that sugar price in Karachi has been hiked by Rs 1 per Kilogram.
According to merchants, sugar price stands at Rs 53 per Kilogram after mills hiked the price.
