PM Shehbaz orders the immediate arrest of a suspect in the Laiba Ejaz case as the FIA forms teams to trace two people allegedly involved in fraud.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the death by suicide of Laiba Ejaz, a student at the International Islamic University Islamabad, and directed authorities to immediately arrest the suspect accused of defrauding her.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also launched efforts to trace and arrest the suspect, with officials saying his initial identity has been established. The prime minister expressed grief over the death of the young student, describing the incident as deeply tragic.

He directed the Islamabad Inspector General of Police and the chief commissioner to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspect named in connection with the alleged fraud involving the deceased student.

Shehbaz Sharif said the suspect should be arrested without delay and awarded punishment in accordance with the law.

Separately, the FIA has stepped up efforts to arrest those allegedly involved in defrauding Laiba Ejaz.

FIA Director Shehzad Bukhari said the initial identity of the suspect had been established and teams had been formed to carry out the arrests.

According to Bukhari, the suspect, identified as Nauman, allegedly posed as an accountant at the Supreme Court. He added that a woman was also allegedly involved in the fraud.

The FIA director said officials had obtained data concerning Nauman and placed the names of both suspects on the stop list as part of efforts to prevent them from evading arrest. He added that the agency had initiated action to apprehend both suspects, while the teams formed for the operation were continuing their work.

The investigation is under way as authorities pursue the suspects in connection with the alleged fraud linked to the student's death.
