Pakistan raises petrol price by Rs3.81, diesel by Rs3.59 per litre

Updated on:

The government has raised petrol by Rs3.81 and high-speed diesel by Rs3.59 per litre, with the revised rates effective from Aug 22 to Aug 24.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -The government has once again increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices, announcing fresh rates that will remain effective for three days from Aug 22 to Aug 24.

According to an official notification issued on Friday, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs3.81 per litre, taking the new retail rate to Rs341.59 per litre.

The price of high-speed diesel has also been raised by Rs3.59 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs368.29 per litre.

The revised rates will take effect from Aug 22 and remain applicable until Aug 24.

The latest adjustment comes shortly after another revision in petroleum prices as the government determines fuel rates more frequently under its revised pricing mechanism.

Petrol and diesel prices remain important for consumers and businesses because of their direct impact on household expenditure, transportation and commercial activity.

The latest increase means a consumer buying 40 litres of petrol will now pay approximately Rs13,664, while filling a 50-litre tank will cost around Rs17,080 at the new rate.

High-speed diesel has an even broader impact on the economy because of its extensive use in goods transportation, agriculture and commercial vehicles. Higher diesel prices can increase freight and logistics expenses, potentially adding to the cost of transporting essential commodities and other goods.
