ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has officially announced summer holidays for educational institutions operating under the federal system, outlining a detailed schedule that includes academic support activities and administrative arrangements during the break period.
The move will affect model schools, colleges and other federal educational institutions across Islamabad as students prepare for an extended summer recess.
According to an official notification issued by the authorities, summer vacations for federal government educational institutions will begin on May 25, 2026 and continue until July 31, 2026. The announcement applies to Islamabad’s model schools, colleges and other institutions functioning under the federal education framework.
The notification stated that educational institutions will resume academic activities on August 3, 2026, marking the end of the summer break period.
While classrooms will fall silent for students during the holiday season, educational institutions will not completely shut down. Administrative operations are expected to continue throughout the vacation period, ensuring that key institutional work remains uninterrupted.
As per the notification, heads of institutions and administrative staff will continue to report for duty during the holidays. Office timings have been set from 9am to 1pm for the completion of official responsibilities and administrative tasks.
Alongside the holiday announcement, authorities have also introduced an academic support initiative for senior students. Coaching classes will be organised during June and July for students of Classes 10 and 11. The arrangement is expected to provide additional educational assistance during the summer months and help students maintain academic continuity outside the regular school calendar.
The notification further revealed that school maintenance and institutional improvement work will continue during the vacation period. Repair work within school premises, training sessions and other administrative activities have also been scheduled to take place during the break.
Such arrangements are commonly undertaken during summer holidays when educational institutions have reduced student activity, allowing infrastructure work and staff development programmes to proceed without disrupting the academic calendar.
