Summary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced that CNG stations across the province will reopen from Thursday after an agreement on gas supply was reached.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced that CNG stations across the province will resume operations from Thursday following an agreement on gas supply.

Speaking at a joint press conference alongside Opposition Leader Dr Ibadullah and provincial finance adviser Muzammil Aslam, Kundi said political differences aside, all stakeholders were united in resolving issues faced by the people of the province.

He stated that uninterrupted gas supply would be provided to CNG stations from 6am to 6pm daily after an agreement was reached to allocate 35 MMCFD gas to the province.

Kundi said the federal and provincial governments were jointly working to address public issues and stressed that matters concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should not be politicised.

“We want a strong federation and will work together for the province whenever an issue arises,” he said.

The governor also thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for taking notice of the matter, expressing hope that the wheat issue facing the province would also be resolved within the next few days.

Meanwhile, Muzammil Aslam thanked the prime minister and petroleum minister for responding swiftly to the issue, adding that dialogue was the best way to resolve disputes rather than political confrontation.

He said Article 151 of the Constitution guarantees free transmission across the country and added that provinces producing gas should receive priority supply under constitutional provisions.

Aslam further said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had the potential to become a major oil and gas hub in the future and called for greater industrial development and attention to merged districts in the upcoming budget.
