LAHORE (Dunya News) - Sri Lanka national cricket team have officially confirmed their participation in a proposed tri-nation One Day International series set to be hosted by Pakistan Cricket Board later this year.
According to media reports, the series is expected to feature Pakistan national cricket team, Sri Lanka, and the England cricket team, forming a competitive build-up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
Sources indicate that Sri Lanka Cricket has formally agreed to join the event, while England’s participation is also anticipated, with ongoing discussions between the respective cricket boards to finalise the schedule.
The tri-series is likely to be held between October and November this year, with Lahore and Karachi under consideration as potential venues for the matches.
Reports further suggest that the Sri Lankan side may play additional limited-overs fixtures, including T20 matches, ahead of the ODI series. There is also a possibility of a Test series being incorporated into the broader tour itinerary, depending on scheduling agreements.
Cricket analysts believe the proposed series will offer valuable match practice and strategic preparation for all participating teams ahead of the next World Cup, particularly in subcontinental conditions.
Pakistan has previously hosted successful tri-nation series, and officials are optimistic that the upcoming event will not only strengthen team preparations but also enhance the country’s profile as a host for international cricket.
