LAHORE (Dunya News) — The Sindh government has extended its motorcycle fuel subsidy programme until May 31, 2026, to continue providing relief to low-income commuters.
According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the provincial cabinet approved the extension of the “Peoples Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Programme” and directed the release of Rs2 billion for May under the initiative.
Officials briefed the meeting that more than 548,000 beneficiaries are currently receiving payments, while a total of Rs1.096 billion has already been disbursed under the scheme.
In a separate decision, the cabinet approved a significant reduction in sales tax for motorcycle-based ride-hailing services, lowering the rate from 5 per cent to 2 per cent. The move is expected to have an annual financial impact of around Rs120 million.
The Chief Minister said the measure would benefit online drivers and promote the growth of digital transport services across the province.
