Summary CM Maryam Nawaz warned against corruption in Suthra Punjab, ordered strict monitoring, timely wages and better cleanliness across province.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said corruption, negligence or mismanagement in the Suthra Punjab programme will not be tolerated.

Addressing a ceremony, she said cleanliness is a basic right of citizens and a clean environment remains a top government priority.

The chief minister termed Suthra Punjab her most important initiative and directed officials to ensure its effective implementation across the province.

She said administrative officers are her “eyes and ears” and performance of the government is reflected through cleanliness standards.

Maryam Nawaz noted that despite two years of the programme, performance was not fully satisfactory and urged officials to conduct surprise visits in their districts.

She added that the project has received international recognition and aims to improve the standard of living for citizens.

The chief minister stressed that while workers have the right to protest over unpaid wages, disorder and unrest would not be tolerated.

She directed timely payment of salaries, identification of ghost employees and equal development in rural and urban areas.

Maryam Nawaz said over 175,000 workers are part of the programme and strict monitoring of their performance will be ensured.

She also instructed authorities to maintain cleanliness arrangements during Eidul Azha and enforce uniform compliance among workers.

The chief minister warned that officers failing to perform would face suspension, while those delivering results would be rewarded.
