DPM Dar, UK foreign secretary discuss regional situation

Yvette Cooper appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote engagement and mediation between parties for peace in the region

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday held a telephone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, the Foreign Office spokesperson said. The spokesperson said both leaders discussed the ongoing regional situation and recent developments.

Yvette Cooper appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote engagement and mediation between parties for peace in the region.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace through dialogue and diplomacy, the Foreign Office said.

The two sides also discussed the impact of the conflict on the global economy and other broader dimensions, according to the statement.

Both countries agreed to maintain close contact on bilateral matters as well as regional and global developments, the spokesperson added.
