ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, calling it an important step toward reducing regional tensions and restoring peace and stability.
In his statement, Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan attaches great importance to regional stability and believes sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect for sovereignty, and adherence to international law.
He said the ceasefire provides an important opportunity for progress toward lasting peace, while reaffirming Pakistan’s continued support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The President further stated that sustainable peace in West Asia depends on addressing the root causes of conflicts, adding that Pakistan is in continuous contact with regional and international partners in this regard.
Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan will continue to support all sincere efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting a fair, lasting and inclusive peace in the region.
He also stressed that all parties must exercise restraint and act responsibly in light of recent developments to prevent further escalation of tensions.
