Summary The first day of Zilqad is expected to fall on Sunday, April 19.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has stated that there are strong chances of the Zilqad 1447 Hijri moon being sighted on April 18.

According to the SUPARCO, the new moon is expected to be born on April 17 at 16:52. By April 18, the moon will be over 26 hours old at sunset, increasing the likelihood of visibility.

The agency further noted that in coastal regions, there will be an approximate 81-minute gap between sunset and moonset, which significantly improves the chances of sighting the new crescent.

Based on scientific estimates, the first day of Zilqad is expected to fall on Sunday, April 19. However, the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after confirming verified testimonies of moon sighting.
