ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Ministry of Interior has clarified that remarks by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi regarding money moving abroad were misreported and taken out of context by sections of the media.
A spokesperson stated that Naqvi did not claim that $100 billion had left Pakistan. Instead, he had referred to approximately Rs100 billion moving out of the country over the past three to four years, citing figures already circulating publicly.
The clarification follows confusion after some television channels reported the figure in dollars rather than rupees, significantly inflating the scale of capital outflows.
The spokesperson emphasised that such reporting was misleading and did not reflect the actual statement made by the interior minister during his address at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Karachi.
Officials urged media outlets to ensure accurate and contextual reporting, particularly on sensitive economic matters.
