Says bridges, development projects being named after individuals as if a monarchy is in place

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has said that Jamaat-e-Islami was not formed for personal interests or the pursuit of power, but for a greater purpose, emphasizing that the party itself is not the goal—rather, it seeks a complete transformation of the system. He said that for the past 78 years, faces and flags have kept changing, but the problems of the people remain the same.

Hafiz Naeem stated that Jamaat-e-Islami is both a religious and political movement, and the message it conveys truly represents Islam. Criticizing the Punjab Local Government Act, he termed it undemocratic and a law that strips powers, saying such legislation further weakens the public.

He said corruption and plunder in the country are carried out collectively, and there is a vast difference between the assets declared to the FBR and the actual lifestyles of individuals. He added that the public is being charged Rs 2,200 billion annually in the name of capacity charges, while the IPPs mafia exists within every major political party. He questioned who would be held accountable for the oppressive agreements made with IPPs.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that bridges and development projects are named after individuals as if a monarchy is in place, whereas in reality, the entire system of the country is controlled by a few people. Struggling to change this unjust system, he said, is a religious obligation.

Hafiz Naeem further remarked that a child is born as a master, while a person who works hard for 40 years becomes a slave, adding that the British-era bureaucratic system still dominates the country. He noted that good and bad people exist everywhere, but a specific mindset is created to control people’s thinking.

Criticizing major political parties, he said feudal lords and tribal chiefs dominate them, and merely changing faces will not solve the nation’s problems. He stressed the need to organize the public and youth and engage them in positive activities.

He made it clear that Jamaat-e-Islami will move forward through peaceful political struggle, saying that while power can be achieved through shortcuts, it is not genuine. Those who seek revolution through mobs, he warned, actually give rise to chaos and disorder.
