ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen cooperation with Qatar in the fields of investment and trade, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
In a statement issued on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day, President Zardari extended warm congratulations to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and conveyed his best wishes to the Qatari people. He said that Pakistan and Qatar enjoy close, long-standing fraternal relations based on shared values and mutual respect.
The president noted that under the leadership of the Qatari Amir, Qatar has achieved remarkable development and progress. He also praised Qatar’s constructive and positive role at both regional and international levels.
President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan is keen to expand collaboration with Qatar in key sectors including investment, trade, energy, agriculture, and technology. He highlighted that partnerships in these areas could bring mutual economic benefits and contribute to sustainable development in both countries. He further said that manpower cooperation and strong people-to-people contacts form the backbone of Pakistan–Qatar relations.
Reiterating his resolve to further strengthen bilateral friendship, the president expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan–Qatar ties.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of World Farmers’ Day, President Zardari paid tribute to Pakistani farmers, calling them the backbone of the national economy, food security, and rural development. He acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers, including water scarcity, climate change, and rising input costs, and stressed the need for concrete measures to improve farmers’ welfare.
