ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Tuesday that whenever governor’s rule is imposed, it is imposed with justification, as its scope arises only when governance failures become evident.
Speaking on a private TV program, the minister stated that governor’s rule becomes an option when a government is not performing its duties, and when a provincial administration fails in maintaining law and order, counterterrorism, and overall governance.
He said that the public has rejected anti-army narratives, pointing out that people did not attend the Peshawar rally.
Tarar added that favoritism in the FBR has been completely eliminated. According to a Transparency International survey, 66% of people said they did not need to pay a bribe for their work, showing that transparency and merit are being prioritized. He said that while the country was once considered close to default, Pakistan is now moving from stability toward growth.
The information minister noted that IMF-backed reforms and Pakistan’s removal from the FATF grey list contributed to economic stability, and the IMF has praised the government’s reform structure. He also said that in 2019, during the PTI era, reports indicated a sugar shortage and advised against exports, whereas when the current government exported sugar, it was in abundant supply. The IMF report also mentions the PTI-era sugar issue.
He said the government is moving toward deregulation, and the Prime Minister has cracked down on sugar hoarders. Now every sugar bag leaving the mills carries a QR code, making it traceable.
Tarar said there is no question of sugar hoarding now, prices have come down, and stability has returned to the sugar market.
