LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab Safe City Authority has cautioned the public about fraudulent e-challan messages, urging citizens not to share any cash or bank information.

Complaints have emerged across Punjab regarding fake e-challan messages being sent to citizens, prompting the Safe City Authority to issue a public warning and advise residents to remain cautious.

According to the authority’s spokesperson, citizens have reported receiving SMS messages claiming to be official e-challans which demand payment or request personal details. The spokesperson clarified that Safe City Authority never asks for cash, account numbers, or bank information through SMS.

Officials stressed that authentic e-challan messages are only sent from the official Punjab government number 8070. Any message received from a different number should be considered suspicious.

According to reports, scammers are reportedly sending links to victims, encouraging them to click and make payments, after which money is fraudulently withdrawn.

The spokesperson warned citizens not to click on any unknown links or make payments through unofficial websites, adding that all services provided by Safe City Authority are completely free for the public.

The advisory further stated that genuine e-challan SMS always include details such as time, location, and nature of violation. In case of suspected fraud, citizens should immediately contact helpline 15 or the FIA Cyber Wing.

Safe City Authority assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in scams using the organization’s name. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, verify messages, and avoid falling victim to digital fraud.
