A massive fire erupted at a garment factory in the Landhi area of Karachi on Thursday while the efforts are underway to douse the blaze

KARACHI (Dunya News) - A massive fire erupted at a garment factory in the Landhi area of Karachi on Thursday while the efforts are underway to douse the blaze.

The rescue officials declared it a ‘third-degree’ fire and called fire tenders from across the city.

The blaze broke out at the factory located in the Landhi Export Processing Zone.

Fire-brigade officials rushed to the scene and began rescue operations.

As many as 14 fire tenders are working to bring the flames under control.

Officials from Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) said that more fire tenders have been called in from all over Karachi to speed up firefighting efforts in view of the fire’s intensity.

The rescue authorities further confirmed that all workers inside the factory were safely evacuated from the building.

Earlier, dozens of huts and several motorcycles were gutted in a fire broke out due to short-circuit in Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi a couple of days ago.

The blaze burnt dwellings of gypsies, with fortunately no human life was lost in the fire, which started from a hut, and engulfed other nearby huts in a jiffy.

An eyewitness to the incident said the fire broke out due to short-circuit, adding firefighters reached the scene to extinguish the fire.

The fire destroyed dozens of huts, belongings of nomads, and several motorcycles.
