Quetta blast claims five lives, probe ordered by authorities

Evidence points to suicide bombing, say counter-terrorism officials

QUETTA (Dunya News) – At least five people have died in an explosion near Shahwani Stadium on Sariab Road in Quetta on Tuesday evening, officials confirmed.

The incident spread fear across the area as emergency responders and security personnel reached the site.

According to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), initial findings suggest the blast was a suicide attack. Forensic teams collected evidence from the scene to confirm the nature of the explosion.

The provincial Home Department announced that the Government of Balochistan has ordered a formal inquiry into the incident.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack in strong terms, calling it a cowardly assault on humanity. He said the provincial government was determined to foil the designs of terrorists and ensure peace in the region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the Quetta blast. He said that terrorists “sponsored from across the border” were targeting civilians in a bid to create instability. Naqvi vowed that national unity would defeat such “nefarious agendas.”

Following the blast, security in Quetta was placed on high alert. Rescue teams transported the injured to nearby hospitals while law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area. Authorities said investigations were underway and further details would be shared once confirmed.
