KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday said that the floodwater will reach Panjnad by September 3, and it may take two more days to reach Guddu Barrage.
Murad Ali Shah stated that 700,000 to 800,000 cusecs of floodwater is expected to reach Guddu Barrage on night between Wednesday and Thursday. He instructed the administration to remain alert and to prepare for rescue operations in case of a flood situation. He emphasized that in the event of a flood surge, there must be no harm to humans or livestock.
A flood emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of Murad Ali Shah, during which instructions were given to deploy rescue teams with boats from Sukkur to Dadu. During the briefing, officials warned that over 52,000 families could be affected due to the potential flood situation.
There is currently a low-level flood in the Indus River at Sukkur, with the water inflow at Sukkur Barrage recorded at 284,970 cusecs.
