KP government receives preliminary report of helicopter crash

The crash occurred due to bad weather and heavy fog, the reports revealed.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has received the preliminary report of helicopter crash on late Friday night. An MI-17 helicopter of the KP government was crashed while carrying relief supplies to Salarzai in Bajaur during relief operation. All five crew members on board embraced martyrdom in the accident.

According to the preliminary report, the helicopter took off at 10:30 AM for Salarzai in Bajaur. On its return from the relief operations, the helicopter met with an accident in Mohmand. The crash occurred due to bad weather and heavy fog, the reports revealed.

The report said that the search for the black box of the helicopter is ongoing. The data from the black box will play a crucial role in determining the cause of the crash. It will provide important information, including the conversation between the pilots.

Officials also mentioned that whether the siren went off in the helicopter during the emergency will also be determined from the black box data. The investigation team formed to find the cause of the crash will visit the site today (Saturday).

Meanwhile, the report further revealed that drone cameras were also used to locate the helicopter. The crash was confirmed at 4:45 PM, in which five people were martyred.
