Karachi traffic accidents claim 536 lives in first seven months of 2025

20 people died after being hit by dumpers

KARACHI (Salik Shah) – At least 536 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents in Karachi in the first seven months of 2025.

According to statistics, from January to July this year, 536 people were killed after being hit by speeding vehicles in the city. Among them, 51 were women, while 68 were children (boys and girls) who died in various road accidents.

Traffic accidents involving buses claimed 25 lives, minibuses 11, coaches 6, trailers 48, and trucks 60. Additionally, 20 people died after being hit by dumpers, 44 by water tankers, and 6 by oil tankers.

The data further shows that pickups were involved in accidents that killed 15 people, jeeps 5, cars 58, motorcycle rickshaws 12, motorcycles 88, and unidentified vehicles 103.

Motorcyclists were the most affected group in these accidents, followed by pedestrians and then passengers in other vehicles. A total of 274 motorcyclists, 179 pedestrians, and 83 passengers in other vehicles lost their lives.

District-wise data shows that 44 people died in District South, 3 in District City, 75 in District Central, 52 in District East, and 52 in District Korangi. The highest numbers were recorded in District West Kemari with 136 deaths and District Malir with 174 deaths in traffic accidents.
