(Web Desk) - Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has once again voiced strong support for Palestine, drawing attention to the devastating violence affecting children in Gaza.
The Test cricketer shared a video on social media depicting injured Palestinian children, condemning the ongoing atrocities.
A vocal advocate for humanitarian causes, Khawaja emphasised the suffering of innocent civilians, particularly children, and echoed UNICEF’s description of Gaza as “a graveyard for children.”
In his post, he wrote, “Hard to watch... Imagine living it,” expressing horror at the persistent killings, starvation, and attacks on aid points.
He urged people to keep speaking out, stating, “If this ever feels normal, we’ve lost our way. Always stand for humanity, equality, and a better future.”
This follows Khawaja’s earlier outcry over the deaths of over 130 Palestinian children in a single day, where he criticised the lack of global response, noting, “These kids have names and families, just like you.”
Born in Pakistan and a practicing Muslim, Khawaja has consistently used his platform to denounce the violence in Gaza. During Australia’s 2023 Test series, he attempted a silent protest with messages on his shoes but was disciplined by the International Cricket Council (ICC), prompting him to wear a black armband instead.
Khawaja called out the ICC for inconsistent rule enforcement, pointing out, “Other players have religious symbols on their gear, which isn’t allowed under ICC rules, but they face no consequences.”
Through his ongoing advocacy, Khawaja continues to condemn the violence in Gaza, urging the world not to normalise such brutality.
