LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering to hold Super League (PSL) in April and May of 2025 as the tournamnet dates clash with the ICC Champions Trophy.
It has been proposed to hold the matches of the PSL 2025 from April 7 to May 20 becasue the Champions Trophy is likely to be played in February and March.
In this regard, a meeting was held between the PCB and the franchise owners to deliberate on the future date of the PSL.
It has been learnt that the PCB has proposed to hold matches of the PSL league in Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi. It is also learnt that the PCB would look for more venues to hold the PSL matches.
Sources said the PCB gave its suggestions to make the matches of the PSL more entertaining and enchanting.
It is suggested that the contestants in a match will submit two separate teams at the toss. They will select a final playing XI after the toss. This initiative will likely help the teams losing the toss.
Another proposal is of applying Power Surge, similar to Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL). It will empower teams to initiate a two-over Power Play any time in the second half of the innings - from the 11th over till the end.
Finally it was agreed that the media rights and live streaming of the PSL has increased manifold and it has been effectively presented as a successful brand before the world.
