ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday stressed the need for conservation of national resources and utilizing the same for poverty alleviation, adding that the country won’t need any foreign loans after that.
He also called for unity and consensus as he mentioned that the country lost its way after the demise of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The prime minister said everyone would have to make joint efforts for the sake of Pakistan so as to reach a point the nation could stop begging others forever – an obvious reference to regularly reaching out to international financial institutions like the IMF and friendly nations for economic bailout.
Addressing a farewell lunch at the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz said they did their best to reduce expenditure during their government amid the challenging economic situation. Some of the ministers didn’t avail their salaries while others refused to use official cars, he mentioned.
He thanked the staff members for their cooperation and asked them to extend the same to the caretaker prime minister who would replace in a few days.
The prime minister said Pakistan was bestowed with immense mineral resources and required hard work for changing the nation’s destiny.
