PM’s 47 foreign trips cost more than Rs 200 million

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – On the opposition’s request, a report on the details of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s foreign trips during last three years was tabled in the Senate.

According to the details, PM Imran Khan had paid visit to three countries in the year 2018. These foreign trips cost more than Rs45.615 million. The PM had visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE), China and Malaysia in 2018.

In the year 2019, the premier paid 16 foreign visits at a cost of 116.91 million while he paid visit to 4 countries in the year 2020 costing more than 13.6 million 37 thousand.

As per the issued details presented in the Senate, the PM paid five foreign visits in the year 2021. These foreign trips of the PM cost more than Rs. 276.2 million.

The premier visited 47 foreign countries since taking oath. The total expenditure on foreign tours was more than 203.767 million.

It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition in the Senate had walked out for not providing details of the PM Khan’s foreign visits. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan had said that it should be mentioned how many countries PM visited in his tenure and who accompanied him. 

Earlier on Dec 29, opposition members had staged protest during a session in upper house of the Parliament, Senate.

The opposition leaders had surrounded the dais of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and chanted slogans against the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The Senate Chairman directed the opposition members to go back to their seats and peacefully record their protest.

Addressing the House, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said that the incumbent government of PTI did not send the money of the nation to Panama or Swiss Banks. Imran Khan neither commits corruption nor allows anyone else, he added.

The state minister said that those who raised the slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra or Makaan’ have done nothing for the people of Pakistan.

He said that traffic police in Islamabad is taking strict measures against the violators. He said safe city cameras are also active in this regard and E-Challans are issued to violators.

Responding to another question, Ali Muhammad Khan said the government has introduced a fifteen hundred billion rupees project, Kamyab Pakistan Program, to uplift the poor segment of the society.
