Death news of national hero Dr Abdul Qadeer is 'fake'

LAHORE (Dunya News) – There is fake news circulating regarding the death of national hero Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on social media with thousands of tweets being shared on Twitter without fact checking the matter.

It is noteworthy here that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan is the father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme and considered a hero for building Pakistan’s first atomic bomb.

It was reported that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan is alive and all news regarding his death is fake. It bears mentioning that he is currently batting with coronavirus since the last few weeks. The nuclear scientist was shifted to a hospital’s coronavirus ward due to critical condition.

Fake news about Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan started circulating after September 9 and rumors about his health and life were spread by sharing old or edited photos and videos of him.

Rejecting the rumors, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan clarified in a video released to the media on September 11 that he is well and in good health.

In a short video, the Pakistan prestigious scientist said that he also received many phone calls after the false news spread about him, which makes him upset. “I am fine and may God will give me life for many more years.”

Expressing anger over the rumors circulating about his demise, he said that anti-national elements were spreading false news about him. “The message to the nation is do not believe in false news,” he added.

The Federal Public Service Commission s (FPSC) took to twitter and said, “Why people spreading false news about Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan"s death? He is our national hero it s just rumors. Khan s still alive. Please pray for his health and don’t spread fake news.”

“Dr Abdul Qadeer is absolutely perfect and alive Alhamdulillah. We got this news from a very authentic and nearby source of him very now. Please just pray for his healthy life always,” the FPSC said in another tweet.
