Men in Green another chance to bolster their preparations for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup
LAHORE (Dunya News) – After T20I series against England in the UK, Pakistan cricket team have landed in the Caribbean island, for five T20Is and two Tests against West Indies.
The T20 International series will be started from July 27.
All players who clear the COVID-19 test as negative will be in action from tomorrow. The training session will focus on batting, bowling, especially fielding and physical fitness.
With the cricket season in full swing, the tour of national team to West Indies has begun after England. The national team lost the ODI and T20 series against England. Players including Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam and Muhammad Abbas who flew from Karachi has also joined the camp.
Formal training session will be conducted from July 23. Under the supervision of Coach Misbahul Haq and Waqar Younis, the batting, bowling and fielding sessions of the team will be held, in which, the special attention will be given to physical fitness.
A series of five T20 matches is scheduled between Pakistan and the West Indies. The T20 matches will start on July 27. The Test matches will start on August 12 in Jamaica.
Needless to say, the focus will be on the T20Is as it will give the Men in Green another chance to bolster their preparations for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup, to be held later this year in the UAE.
However, the two-match Test series will also provide its own challenges to the visitors, as it will be part of the second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. Hence, it will be interesting to see how Pakistan responds to the challenges ahead in the Caribbean island.
Unlike the hosts, Pakistan have already announced their T20I and Test squads for the tour, with some of their Test specialists having already left for the tour.
