Federal govt ready to help with Rangers for operation in Sindh: Sheikh Rashid
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has said that the Prime Minister does not want to interfere in Sindh however federal government is ready to help with Rangers for operation.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, interior minister said that neither the prime minister nor the interior ministry have anything to do with the operation. The federal government will provide Sindh with whatever it asks for, he added.
He said that he had come to Karachi on the instructions of the prime minister and met the heads of all the institutions. The federal and provincial governments will work together to deal with the dacoits.
Interior minister said that establishing law and order is a provincial issue. It is up to the provincial government to decide in which areas the Rangers should be deployed.
He said that Sindh police would be provided with as many arms as required including drones to end the rule of dacoits.
The Sindh chief minister wants to deal with the situation in Shikarpur himself. We will help the Sindh government where it needs, said minister.
There will be no operation in Karachi and no governor rule, he concluded.
Sheikh Rashid, CM Murad agree to launch operation in Karachi s Kacha area
Earlier Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid on Thursday had arrived at Chief Minister (CM) House and met Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah.
The interior minister had discussed law and order situation in the province and other important matters with the CM. Both the leaders had agreed on launching operation against dacoits in Kacha area.
During the day, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had visited Sindh Rangers Headquarters during his visit to Karachi to review security situation following the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Director General Sindh Rangers Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhry welcomed Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on reaching the Sindh Rangers Headquarters. The Federal Interior Minister was accompanied by Secretary Interior Yousuf Naseem Khokhar during the visit.
He was briefed on the overall law and order situation in Sindh province including Karachi at Rangers headquarters. Suggestions for improving the law and order situation in Sindh also came under discussion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Rashid had said that Karachi is the backbone of Pakistani economy and we will ensure law and order here. Sheikh Rashid also lauded the role of Sindh Rangers in maintaining law and order in Karachi.
