ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, former Prime Minister and joint candidate of opposition parties’ Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for Senate chairmanship, Yousaf Raza Gillani on Friday has claimed of winning the number game in the Upper House of the Parliament.

While talking to media persons in Islamabad ahead of Senate chairman and deputy chairman polls, the PPP leader said that the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is facing humiliation after hidden cameras found over the polling booth in the Senate.

The position of federal government at the time of Senate elections was different. The opposition parties got benefit from the differences between Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and members of the assemblies, he told.

Earlier today, the newly-elected 48 members of the Upper House of the Parliament, Senate took oath during the specially convened session in Islamabad.

Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah, nominated as presiding officer by President Arif Alvi, chaired the session and administered the oath to the members-elect.

As per schedule, the presiding officer adjourned the session and said that the candidates can file their nomination papers for Senate chairman and deputy chairman polls in the office of the secretary by noon.

The session would resume in the evening to elect the chairman and deputy chairman. Names of the candidates would be announced during the session and later a secret ballot will be held.

After the announcement of the winners, new chairman Senate and deputy chairman will take the oath.
