SC did not accepted argument of the election commission on secrecy of ballot: Fawad
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said that holding Senate elections as per past practices is a violation of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) opinion on presidential reference on open Senate vote.
Talking exclusively to Dunya News, Fawad Chaudhry said that the apex court did not accepted argument of the election commission and stated secrecy of ballot paper is for political parties but not for the ECP.
The federal minister further said that their suggestion was to use technology in ballot papers such as barcode or serial number.
Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry said that opposition is fighting an already lost battle of Senate elections.
The federal minister, in a tweet on Tuesday, said that political opponents of the government will start crying foul within 24 hours and will find new excuses to keep their presence on TV screens.
Fawad Chaudhry further said that immature politics of the opposition changes direction daily as they don’t have any policy or strategy.
On the other hand, the federal government’s allies, in a late-night press conference on Monday, have assured it will stand with the PTI in the upcoming Senate elections.
Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haque, said the MQM-P, along with other allies of the government, would stand with PTI in the upcoming Senate elections.
The federal government’s allies are on the same page, including the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), and the MQM-P, he said.
