Saad Rafique was accused of influencing inquiry into Hafizabad train accident.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to close another inquiry against former railways minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique.
According to sources, the prosecution wing of the anti-graft watchdog has recommended closure of the inquiry after no substantial evidence was found of the PML-N leader influencing the inquiry into Hafizabad train accident.
Earlier in January, the NAB Lahore recommended closure of an inquiry against Khawaja Saad Rafique into the purchase of locomotives for want of evidence.
The anti-graft watchdog had initiated the investigation against the leader of the opposition party on a complaint that he had procured the locomotives on exorbitant rates when he was railways minister.
Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique are also facing another NAB reference pertaining to the Paragon City housing project.
NAB accused the Rafique brothers of establishing a housing project by acting as benamidars in the name of Air Avenue.
