ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Representative of the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on Friday strongly condemned the statement of the US Secretary of State regarding religious freedom in Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Friday, he said that Pakistan is a country of all religions, adding that the foreign office is in contact with the US Commission on Religious Freedom in this regard and hopefully this allegation will be dropped soon.

Ashrafi went on to say that all scholars reject the US report regarding religious freedom in Pakistan, adding that the US Commission on Religious Freedom sees nothing in India.

He further said that no one in India is safe from extremist RSS. Muslim, Sikh and Christian minorities are all insecure there while the situation in Pakistan is completely different.

The special representative said that if Rimsha Masih is safe in this country then it is a proof that Pakistan knows how to protect the minority community. The US Commission and the State Department should consider their claims.

"As the prime minister s representative, I invite the US commission to sit with us. We will prove the US commission s report wrong after the meeting," he said.

Tahir Ashrafi said that religious harmony was going to be included in the curriculum.
