Punjab imposes micro-smart lockdown in 830 coronavirus hot-spots

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Government of Punjab has imposed micro-smart lockdown for 14 days on several virus hotspots in the province in a move to curb rising coronavirus cases.

According to details, provincial government has sealed 830 places across the province after 1416 cases of novel coronavirus were reported out of 3,332 residents of the areas.

The lockdown has been imposed in 435 spots in Lahore, 37 in Bahawalpur, 35 in Bhakkar, 17 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 34 in Faisalabad and 14 spots in Gujranwala district.

Moreover, 44 places in Multan, 29 in Gujrat and 16 in Sahiwal, 24 in Sargodha and scores of hotspots in other districts of Punjab have been sealed under the micro-smart lockdown.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 12 deaths in last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 335,093. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 6,835.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 1,123 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

Till now 146,331 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 104,554 in Punjab, 39,649 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 20,089 in Islamabad, 15,954 in Balochistan, 4,237 in Azad Kashmir and 4,279 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
