No one can dare ask for my resignation: PM Imran

The prime minister said COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa asked him before meeting opposition.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday made it clear that no one can dare ask for his resignation. If General Zaheer-ul-Islam had demanded resignation from him, or an Army Chief had attacked Kargil without his clearance, he would have sacked them both.

In his interview with a private television channel, the prime minister said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa asked him before meeting with the opposition.

Talking about the opposition s PDM movement, he made it clear that protest is the right of the opposition but if anyone breaks the law, everyone will go to jail.

Imran Khan said that the PML-N supremo was playing a dangerous game just like Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) London-based chief. “I have no doubt that India is helping him,” he said.

He said that former US ambassador Hussain Haqqani is running a campaign and appealed the liberals to open their eyes.

The premier said that Pakistan Army is standing with the government’s policies, adding that the job of the army is not to run the government. He said that the relations between his government and the military are the "best in history" because all institutions are working in their spheres.

PM Imran said that Pakistan would been divided into three parts if we didn’t have this army, adding that they are running a whole campaign against the army. India wants to divide Pakistan, for which it wants to kill clerics to carry out sectarian riots, he said.

Imran Khan asked if a dictator made mistakes will we always call the army bad and if judiciary gave a wrong decision will we call the judiciary bad.

“The point is that the past is just to learn. We learned that the military’s work is not to run the country. If democracy is harming the country, it doesn’t mean that martial law replaces it,” he said.

The prime minister further said that the PML-N supremo was never a democrat, adding first, they were nourished by the army as it started from General Jilani and then General Zia. The PM said that he has been elected directly by the public which is why he has no friction with the army.

Imran Khan made it clear that unlike Pervez Musharraf, he will not buckle under any pressure. He will not give NRO to the opposition, even if it costs him his premiership.
