Sindh bans pillion riding on 9th, 10th Muharram
KARACHI (Dunya News) - In view of security concerns, the Sindh government has banned pillion riding on motorcycles across the province on 9th and 10th Muharram.
A notification has been issued by the Sindh Interior Department in this regard also banning aerial firing and public display of weaponry.
According to the notification, section 144 will be applicable if even five or more people are present. However, this does not apply to religious gatherings and rallies. Hateful wall chalking, banner hanging and audio/video propagation will also be banned.
The notification says that convening new rallies or gatherings without permission of the concerned authorities would be banned. Notably, security forces personnel, journalists, the elderly, females and minors will be exempt from the pillion riding ban.
