Conspiracy hatched against me, will face allegations: Ajmal Wazir
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government spokesman Ajmal Wazir, who was the victim of an alleged audio scandal, has said that a conspiracy was hatched against him.
In a statement, Ajmal Wazir said that he was convinced of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and would face the charges. Artificial audio tape was created by editing various meetings and briefings.
The basis on which this audio was based was the list of the advertising companies for the TV channel. According to the information rules, the chairman of the steering committee is the Minister of Information. The steering committee had met twice and was chaired by the health minister, said Ajmal Wazir.
Former Information Adviser Ajmal Wazir said that he has nothing to do with the issue for which he is being criticized.
The advertisement was for the health department and Chairman for Advertisement Department of Health, is the Minister of Health, I was an honorary member of the committee, had no decision-making power, he added.
Earlier following allegations of receiving commission through advertisements, Ajmal Wazir was removed as Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations.
The decision was taken by KP CM Mahmood Khan after an alleged recording of audio call between Ajmal Wazir and an advertisement company representative surfaced.
Dunya News has obtained the recording in which Ajmal Wazir and advertisement company agent can be heard discussing waiver in GST and other taxes. The representative said to Ajmal Wazir that he will give him 10 percent [commission] instead of two if GST is not deducted.
A notification of Ajmal Wazir’s removal has also been issued and CM Mahmood Khan has ordered to launch inquiry into the matter.
Furthermore, Adviser to KP CM on Local Bodies and Rural Development Kamran Bangash has been given the portfolio of Information and Public Relations Adviser.
Let it be known that Ajmal Wazir was appointed on March 3, 2020 after removal of the then Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai.
