ANF challenges Rana Sanaullah’s bail in SC

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Wednesday has challenged bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah in drugs case in Supreme Court (SC).

In the plea, the ANF has requested the court to annul the decision of Lahore High Court (LHC) to release the former Punjab law minister on bail.

On the other hand, the federal cabinet has put name of Rana Sanaullah on Exit Control List (ECL) through circulation summary.

No suspect confesses to crime: ANF DG on Rana Sanaullah

ANF DG Major General Muhammad Arif Malik, while speaking about Rana Sanaullah, said that no suspect confesses to his/her crime.

The ANF DG talked to media and asked whether any murderer ever admitted in court or in public that he/she killed a person. Rana Sanaullah’s case is being heard by the court and he should provide the evidence of his innocence there, he said.

Major General Muhammad Arif Malik said Rana Sanaullah and Minister of State for Narcotics Control Sheharyar Afridi both have taken oath and a draw should be held to figure out who is the culprit.

While responding to a journalist who asked the ANF DG that can he swear about the veracity of the case, he said the courts should be closed if things are to be settled that way. On July 1, 2019, Rana Sanaullah was arrested by the ANF team on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near the Sukheki area.

The ANF officials had claimed to have seized 15 kilograms of heroin from Sanaullah’s vehicle while they had also detained PML-N leader’s guard for taking the law into hands.

Later, he was released from Lahore’s Camp Jail after LHC had granted him bail in narcotics case.

He came out of the jail after five months and 25 days.
