Punjab govt imposes Medical Teaching Institutions (Reforms) Ordinance 2019

A notification regarding the ordinance was issued after formal approval from Punjab Governor.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government on Tuesday has imposed privatization ordinance 2019 in all the medical teaching hospitals across the province.

The provincial law department stated that a notification regarding the ordinance was issued after formal approval from Punjab Governor.

According to the ordinance, the system of teaching hospitals will be controlled by board of governors just like in private hospitals. Government job status of the doctors, nurses and para-medical staff has also been scrapped.

The notification said that financial and administrative matters will be looked after by board of governors while posts of principal and Medical Superintendent have been removed in the teaching hospital. However, positions of dean, hospital directors, medical directors and nursing director have been introduced, the notification further stated.
