GURUGRAM (Web Desk) - Hindu fascists beat Muslim family over cricket dispute on Holi in Gurugram. Around 35-40 members mob attacked Muslim family threatning them to go to Pakistan.
Police arrested six of the attackers in an attempt to murder along with other sections when an FIR was registered in Bhondsi police station under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
ACP Shamsher Singh said the attack happened when victims were playing cricket in their residence.
"As per statement given by one of the victims, identified as Shahid, the attackers were inebriated and asked the victims not to play cricket on the street. Following this, both the groups got into an argument and the goons trashed the victims with batons, iron rods, hockey sticks, and water pipes," said Singh.
When victims tried to escape, they got followed and beaten up in their own home until Shahid lost consciousness.
These ruffians pelted stones at their homes and kept beating them even after the interference of the family members begging the ruffians to leave them alone.
"We have video grabs of the incident and efforts are on to identify other accused," Singh added.
Mohammad Shamshad, father of Shahid, claimed that police responded half an hour late after he called them to rescue his family.
“They broke the windows, our cars and took away valuables, including a pair of gold earrings, a gold chain and RS/-25,000 I had kept in the house,” family member said about the ruffians who vandalized their property.
Reacting to the assault on the Muslim family, users took to Twitter to slam the incident.
A user wrote, "This is New India, some Hindu person attack on Muslim family in a developed city of Gurugram. What’s the thinking of such people and government of India about Muslims."
Another user tweeted, This is what Modi’s #NewIndia is all about."
A user also said, "This is so ridiculous. Justice must be given."
"Not at all fair, highly condemnable," a user also tweeted.
