Sindh govt files review petition in SC against anti-encroachment drive

Affected shopkeepers will be provided alternate sources for livelihood.

 

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government on Friday has submitted a petition in the Supreme Court to review orders to launch an anti-encroachment operation which is no underway in Karachi and other Sindh districts.

The Sindh government prayed to the apex court that the ongoing mega anti-encroachment operation is causing a human tragedy rendering large number of people out of work.

The government has stated in instant petition that the shopkeepers affected in the ongoing operation will be provided alternate place to run their shops or/and respective businesses.

It was also added that a comprehensive plan has been devised for it and Sindh Govt. will carry out the operation in a way which would not hurt businesses of citizens.

Earlier, Sindh Cabinet in its meeting on Dec 1, had approved a proposal to file the review petition against the anti-encroachment drive that is currently in full swing in the metropolis.
