SC imposes ban on admissions in private medical colleges at Abbottabad

The ban was imposed on lacking standards.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Supreme Court (SC) has imposed ban on admission in private medical colleges at Abbottabad.
A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Azmat Saeed took up for hearing the case pertaining to admission in private medical colleges at Abbottabad on Tuesday.
The court has slapped ban on admission into private medical colleges in Abbottabad as they don’t come up to the set standards.
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked the value of degrees from Pakistani medical colleges is nothing more than a piece of paper in other countries. Population is not controlled and doctors like these are produced to kill the people.
Barrister Saif counsel for Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) took the plea that PMDC had imposed ban on admission into medical colleges at Abbottabad and frontier because they did not fulfill the set standard.
He informed the court that private medical colleges had challenged these orders of PMDC in Peshawar High Court (PHC) and PHC had ordered to lift the ban on admissions.
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked “ the situation of education in medical colleges in KP is worst. There will be no admission in private medical colleges from today.
Justice Sajjad Ali Shah remarked “ medical college should have 250-bed hospital and they are not having it.
Barrister Saif told the court petition is pending hearing in PHC with reference to admission in medical colleges.
The court ordered for continuing the hearing after the decision of the petition besides adjourning the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
