NAB DG says probe against Shehbaz in 'final phase'

LAHORE (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is all set to make largest plea bargain in history of Pakistan in case pertaining to Eden scam involving son-in-law of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chuadhry.
Responding to a question in Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath, NAB Director General Saleem Shehzad stated that Eden Housing Scheme has offered a plea bargain of Rs13 bln.
“Plea bargain is a court order, not an executive order. Without court approval, NAB can’t do plea bargain”, the DG was quoted as saying.
The total affectees of Eden scam are 11,500.
Shehbaz Sharif case
Responding to a question, NAB DG stated that investigation pertaining to Shehbaz Sharif had entered the final phase. He said, “ Shehbaz Sharif says he has not committed a corruption of even a single penny. He utters lies”.
NAB DG added that of anti-graft watchdog’s case against former Punjab chief minister is very strong.
“When NAB inquired about assets from Shehbaz Sharif, he replied asked it from Suleman Shehbaz. When we asked Suleman, he gave us dubious answers”, revealed NAB DG.
NAB DG further revealed that Akram Naveed transferred Rs130 mln in the account of Ali Imran [son-in-law of Shehbaz Sharif]. He said, “Furthermore, Ali Imran continued to transfer public mony in his personal account.”
The DG also accused Saad Rafique of using influence on prosecutor’s witnesses.
