Delay in salaries: NB President seeks pardon from SC

National Bank president Qamar Hussain sought pardon from the SC for delay in salaries and arrears.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that who is responsible for halting salaries of the poor, adding that the NB president should himself select penalty for his negligence.Three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted hearing of the contempt of court case.The Chief Justice remarked that president National Bank halted salaries of employees for two months despite court orders. It is staunch violation of the court which is real guarantor of people’s rights.At this, the NB president sought pardon on unconditional grounds from the Supreme Court.The chief justice also said that as who is responsible for blocking salaries of the poor who are already dying of starvation and hunger due to inflation in the country.
