Venus and Jupitermore than 820 million kilometers away

LAHORE: (Web Desk) - On 30th June, 2015, the planets Venus and Jupiter came closest together in the sky in recent memory and were close enough to cover an area in the sky less than that of the Moon.

They, along with other objects in the sky such as Saturn and our Moon, were observed with big and small telescopes from Lahore Astronomical Society ranging from 5 inch refractors, 8 inch reflectors to 10" reflectors telescopes. Looking at different wavelengths that included Ultra-violet wavelength filters for looking at the brilliant and bright planet Venus showed its cloud tops like no one has ever seen before from Lahore!

Adults and kids, curious alike, came and observed the wonderful views. The incredible thing about this Jupiter Venus encounter was that they both were so close that they would fit in one field of view of the telescopic eyepiece.

Venus and Jupiter, although appearing very close in the sky, were actually more than 82 Karor kilometers apart when seen yesterday! That s right, more than 820 million kilometers away from each other.
