Resolving long-standing disputes only route to lasting peace in South Asia: COAS

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that lasting peace in South Asia is possible only by resolving long-standing conflicts and global support and commitment are needed to resolve regional issues.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Command and Staff College Quetta. On arrival in Quetta, Commander Army Southern command Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf received the COAS while Commandant of Command and Staff College Quetta Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum was also present on the occasion.

According to ISPR, the Army Chief also spoke to the teachers and officers of the Staff College about various security challenges. He said that only a well-trained and professional army, which has the support of the people, can be the guarantor of peace.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that lasting peace in South Asia is possible only by resolving long-standing disputes, for which global support and commitment to regional issues are imperative.

He said that only with effective national efforts can Pakistan move towards prosperity and development. It is the need of the hour to have professional training and be equipped with modern technology in order to overcome emerging challenges.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa also said that Pakistan Army, along with other state agencies, will go to every length to effectively tackle the challenge of Coronavirus.
